The nomination of Gyankroma Akufo-Addo as the Executive Secretary of the Creative Arts Agency has been criticized as being unlawful by the convener of the Foundation of Concerned Arts Professionals (FOCAP), Kojo Preko Dankwa.

He said that Gyankroma is operating in the office without the official knowledge of the industry stakeholders on Joy FM’s Showbiz A-Z.

She works as the Creative Arts Agency’s Executive Secretary illegally. And I’m amazed that we’re still debating this issue while the President and the Ministry are still present, he told host Kwame Dadzie.

He believed that if her appointment had been properly performed, it should have been made public.

“We need to know if she has gotten her appointment letter. The President does not act secretly when choosing the Chief Executive Officer of the Volta River Authority. We’re all aware. You must officially tell us. If she has received her letter of appointment, that indicates that the administration does not respect us, he continued”.

The Creative Arts Agency is a group that offers an institutional framework for the growth and administration of the associated fields of the creative arts.

The President of the Republic of Ghana appoints the Executive Secretary of the Agency. This individual is in charge of running the Agency on a daily basis and is answerable to the Board for carrying out the duties outlined in the Creative Industry Act (1048).

The act also mandates the creation of a Board to serve as the institution’s governing body.

“Article 195 of the Constitution gives the President the same authority to do the same for the Creative Arts Agency,” Kojo continued. “It provided him the ability to appoint an Executive Secretary and a Board for the National Film Authority.

The creation of a Board and the approval of the Legislative Instrument to the Act are now being anticipated by those involved in the creative industry in order to improve the efficiency of the Agency’s operations.
