President Nana Akufo-Addo has honored his commitment to provide financial support to Medeama Sporting Club for their CAF Champions League campaign.

The President pledged GH¢1 million in August when the Tarkwa-based team visited the Presidency after qualifying for the tournament.

The financial assistance was delivered on Thursday, December 14, with the Minister of Youth and Sports, Mustapha Ussif, presenting the promised amount to the club.

Despite a challenging start to their continental journey with one win from three group games, Medeama aims to make significant strides in the CAF Champions League.

Member of Parliament for Tarkwa and Nsuaem, George Mireku Duker, received the GH¢1 million on behalf of Medeama Sporting Club.

Mustapha Ussif, the Minister of Youth and Sports, posted on social media, stating, “I had the privilege of presenting GH¢1 million from H.E. President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to the MP for Takwa Nsuem, George Mireku Duker, on behalf of Medeama Sporting Club, as a fulfillment of his pledge to them for winning the 2022/23 league and also qualifying for the CAF Champions League.

“Together, we champion the spirit of sportsmanship and national pride. Best of luck to Medeama SC, and I wish them well in their campaign in Africa.”

In the CAF Champions League, Medeama currently holds the third position in Group D with four points from a possible nine.
