Yaw Amankwa, the Campaign Manager for Team Ken in the Ashanti Region, has strongly criticized Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, labeling him as the worst Vice-President ever. Amankwa accused Dr. Bawumia of failing to deliver on his campaign promises aimed at improving the economy, citing concerns such as the current high inflation rate, the depreciation of the Cedi against the dollar, and high taxes.
Amankwa also expressed the view that Dr. Bawumia has inadequately managed the country’s economic management team. He went further to assert that the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) cannot secure victory in the 2024 general elections with Dr. Bawumia as its flagbearer, a sentiment he believes is shared by party leaders.
Amankwa, who previously served as the NPP chairman in the Ashanti Region, voiced his dismay over the growing internal party conflicts and violence during elections within the NPP. He criticized the level of indiscipline within the party and suggested that Kennedy Agyapong is the only figure capable of leading the NPP to victory, citing Agyapong’s commitment to economic transformation, reducing youth unemployment, and instilling hope in the people.
Amankwa alleged that Dr. Bawumia has promised the Vice Presidential slot to seven Ashanti Regional MPs, and he warned that Bawumia’s candidacy as the party’s flagbearer might lead the NPP into opposition, pledging to resist any actions that could jeopardize the party’s chances in the upcoming elections.
