Before the internal elections set for Saturday, November 4, all flagbearer candidates have been warned to exercise caution in their speech by the NPP’s Director of Elections, Mr. Evans Nimako.

The campaign so far has been typified by the contenders hurling salvos at one another.

There are four contenders vying to be the NPP flagbearer.

These are Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Vice President; Kennedy Agyapong, Member of Parliament for Assin Central; Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, former Minister of Food and Agriculture; and Francis Addai-Nimoh, former Member of Parliament for Mampong.

Mr. Evans Nimako remarked, among other things, that “The aspirants should be measured in their utterances” during his Big Issue speech on TV3 on Thursday, November 2.

Dr. Afriyie Akoto, a candidate running for flagbearer, previously stated that the internal election will not determine the party’s fate.

“The November 4 flagbearer elections is not a make or break for the party,” emphasized the former Minister of Food and Agriculture during a news conference on Wednesday, November 1.

If he is elected president of Ghana, he will fulfill his pledge to form an agriculture management team.

According to Dr. Afriyie Akoto, the agricultural management team would be in charge of making sure that enough money is set aside for agriculture.

He emphasized the significance of agriculture and its capacity to change the nation in a previous interview with TV3’s Keminni Amanor.

“We should make sure that we at least meet the AU aim of giving agriculture 10% of our budget in order to give it special attention.

“In order to accomplish that, I will form an agricultural management team, which the Vice President will lead. The Vice President will oversee the team in order to guarantee that the funding necessary for the agricultural transformation will be allocated.” Ghana will then be able to benefit from this.

On Saturday, November 4, the NPP will run for flagbearer.
