Ghana and South Africa have mutually decided to enact a visa exemption program for individuals with regular passports.
The visa exemption allows for a total of 90 days within a year, and it will go into effect starting from November 1, 2023. In a statement released by the South African High Commission in Accra on Friday, October 13, it was stated, “The Republic of South Africa’s High Commission is pleased to notify the Republic of Ghana that both governments have concurred on the implementation of a visa exemption waiver for holders of regular passports, permitting a combined duration of 90 days per year, commencing on November 1, 2023. If the 90-day limit is reached within a twelve-month period, ordinary passport holders must apply for a visa to enter South Africa.”
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration has issued a statement announcing that Ghana and South Africa have established an accord concerning a visa exemption program for regular passport holders, which will be effective from November 1, 2023.
The Ministry also clarified that travellers can pass through, leave, and reside in both countries for a combined period of 90 days without the intention of employment. Travelers are advised to be aware of this update, as stated by the Ministry.
