Agyemang Diawusie, a former youth international for Germany, sadly died at the age of 25. The tragic news was revealed by his current club, Jahn Regensburg, on Tuesday afternoon.
The club released a statement expressing their sorrow and grief over Diawusie’s untimely passing.“This Tuesday, SSV Jahn received the terrible news that Jahn professional Agyemang Diawusie died at the age of 25. The club is shocked and deeply saddened by this tragic event.”
The club requested that Diawusie’s family be given privacy, saying, “The Jahn family mourns with the bereaved and their thoughts are with Agyemang’s family, relatives, close friends, and companions. Because of the terrible situation and out of respect for his family, we ask that their privacy be respected.”
There is no known cause of Diawusie’s passing. In July, he had returned to Regensburg after attending the club’s academy as a young player. He made 16 appearances for the team this season in all competitions.
Diawusie was a gifted player who earned caps for the Germany Under-15 and Under-19 teams on the international scene. Playing 48 games for the RB Leipzig Under-19s and 55 games for the German third-tier team Wehen Wiesbaden, he spent the majority of his career in Germany. He also spent a brief time at SV Ried in Austria.
Diawusie was a native of Ghana.
