Near Chaos Erupts in Tamale as Ken Agyapong and Sagnarigu Constituency Chairman Clash During Meeting
In a tense encounter during a meeting in Tamale on Saturday, New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer aspirant Kennedy Ohene Agyapong clashed with Alhaji Dagoma, the Constituency Chairman for Sagnarigu, and his delegates.
As part of his Northern Region tour, Agyapong met with delegates from Sagnarigu and Tamale North constituencies in Tamale. During this meeting, Agyapong made a striking claim, asserting that the Constituency chairmen had been offered GH¢100,000 each to secure their votes during the Super Delegates Conference in August.
This allegation did not sit well with Sagnarigu’s outspoken Chairman, known for his blunt approach. Without hesitation, he requested the microphone and emphatically refuted the presidential aspirant’s statement.
“The man is telling lies. He is lying. I am the Chairman of the constituency. I voted in the Super Delegates Conference, and nobody gave me GH¢100,000 to vote. I will not accept such lies from somebody who wants to lead this party,” he declared.
The Chairman’s response garnered enthusiastic applause from the delegates, but it also incited a small group of the aspirant’s supporters to hurl insults at the delegates.
Ghana360news correspondent, Marizuuq Issah, indicated that tensions escalated to the point where the elders had to step in to diffuse the situation. Subsequently, the meeting was abruptly concluded by the presidential aspirant.
