As part of ongoing efforts to raise awareness about the disease, Agricultural Development Bank (ADB) PLC, in partnership with certain health professionals, has implemented a free breast screening program for patrons and employees at certain bank branches.
Consumers at any of the chosen branches were given the option to walk to designated centers to be screened and were also provided with advisory services.
Additionally, there were virtual health talks where medical professionals informed employees and clients about cancers of the breast, prostate, and cervical regions.
Alhaji Alhassan Yakubu-Tali, the bank’s managing director, notified this to Ghana360news that the organization is dedicated to health advocacy, including raising awareness and promoting early intervention to safeguard the wellbeing of both employees and clients.
“We are dedicated to the health and welfare of the communities in which we operate, and programs such as these exemplify our commitment to the well-being of our staff and customers beyond financial services,” he continued.
In addition, Alhaji Yakubu-Tali stated that the bank was providing its employees and clients with the information and chance to take preventative action in order to stop preventable deaths from illnesses such as breast cancer by making screening easier to access.
As the bank for the people, he claimed, it was the responsibility of the bank to provide these services to its patrons because they were the center of its operations.
“According to statistics, breast cancer is a problem that more women are facing. This emphasizes how critical early detection is to our group’s fight against the illness,” the doctor stated.
Alhaji Yakubu-Tali emphasized once more on how important women are to the socioeconomic advancement of the country.
Therefore, he urged stakeholders to work together to address these serious threats to women’s lives and livelihoods.
The MD commended health officials, Obaapa Y. Addo, the bank’s head of customer care and quality service, Bridget L. N. Kaminta, president of the ADB Ladies Association, and other stakeholders for their individual contributions to the exercise’s successful execution.
Dr. Bright Baabu, Acacia Clinic, the Medifam Multi-Specialist Hospital in Accra’s Tema Women’s Hospital, the Abokobi Health Center in Madina, the Tamale Teaching Hospital, the Cape Coast Regional Hospital, and the Holy Family Hospital in Nkawkaw, Eastern Region were the collaborative health practitioners and institutions.
